Tea and Tasmania

I can't edit my forum ticker photo right now for some bewildering reason, so I've moved onto the next item on my 'to do' list - update my blog. Actually, I don't have a list, and if I did, it would just have a few pictures and things scrawled on it like 'make yourself a drink' and 'play guitar'.
That's beside the point though, I'm updating my blog, mostly due to reminders from my faithful and I hate to disappoint.

So. I've been sick. Not in the exciting way, just in the need to blow my nose a lot and feel like crap way. On the up side, I'm getting better. So everyone can breath out a big sigh of relief.

I've been interested in Tasmania recently. I've turned from my Tasmania-insulting ways (not knowing anything about the southern state, the jokes were pretty average anyway. Besides, I didn't know anyone from Tasmania and it's no fun making up insults if nobody's insulted.) and started to learn about the place. What have I learned? A few things.

• That Tasmania is beautiful, for one. It is riddled with rivers and there's a lot of bushland, and of course, being an island, there's a fair bit of coast too.
• That it's about 2hrs (which is a conservative granny speed estimate) from Launceston to Hobart. Helen told me that!
• That houses are generally cheaper in Tasmania than they are in Melbourne, which is a rather attractive thing.
• That they don't have 7/11's, which is a rather unattractive thing.
• That Hobart is Australia's second oldest city, and Launceston is Australia's third oldest city.
• That John Batman designed the city of Melbourne from Launceston.

I learned much of this from Wikipedia and also did my own tour courtesty of Google Earth. I don't know when GE will next update their images of Eastern Tas, but there's a whole lot of smoke to be seen at the moment, so I'm guessing that the last lot of satellite images were taken during the bushfires, which I thought was interesting to see!

I had a cup of tea the other day, with a teabag from an interesting pack of Bag Ladies Tea I think I recieved as a nice little gift from an Australian nappy seller. I had a look at the website, and it's definitely something I'm going to keep in the back of my mind for gifts - the small packs would be especially great for those birthday and Christmas times where you feel you need to get someone a little something. I wouldn't mind a big tin, makes tea drinking that much more amusing.

Well, it's taken me a fair while to write this, what with trying to stop a baby from crying at his stuffed giraffe (they have a love hate relationship) and a husband calling trying to determine what baby food he should buy - we're starting Wheels on solids maybe tomorrow. So I might leave it at this, with the promise to update soon on Wheels's first food experience, the new modern cloth nappies I 'need' to buy, and other miscellaneous topics.
